Default Thrust washer for the crank gear?

I did, what I feel to be, a great job of bag-and-tag when I tore my engine/car apart. For the life of me I can't seem to find a thrust washer that goes behind the crank timing belt gear. I also don't remember there being one on another one of my Zetecs when I did a timing belt change. However, I notice that the factory manual mentions there being a thrust washer. Tousley Ford is the only place that I know of that offers exploded views. A thrust washer is shown, but there is no part number/availability listed. It appears as though the gear stops against a bit of a ridge on the crank- it's not riding against the block or anything. Does anyone know if there should be a washer there? If so, where do I get one?

I wouldnt really call it a thrust washer. A washer, yes. The thrust duties are handled by the center main bearing's vertical surfaces.

Should it be lost, I have many here. Here is a pic of the one piece version. Some were 2 tho.

Ok- that makes sense. I didn't know there were two different versions. The couple of Zetecs (including this project engine) have all used the one piece version. I was wondering why you would want a washer/thrust washer behind that gear since it pretty much already already has one built into it.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

There must at least be something on the front and the rear since the belt is guided by them. The only belt guides on the entire belt run. Not thrust washers unless you consider belt wander as thrust.

I think the guide on the front side is the crank pulley/harmonic dampener (whatever flavor you prefer).

How can I get one? I bought my focus and it did not have one and I threw a timing belt. I got lucky and didn't mess anything up, but I can't find one anywhere.
